All About
Dental Implants.
A Dental Implant is a Titanium Screw, which is placed into the jawbone to replace the root of a lost natural tooth, if you have a missing tooth, the tooth needs to have been missing for at least 3 months before getting a Dental Implant. The implant fuses with the jawbone to form a secure foundation for tooth replacement. Dental Implants are an effective, aesthetically pleasing restoration for any missing teeth and also an effective base for stabilising Dentures.Â

There is no clear answer to which of All on 4 or All on 6 is better. It all depends on the patient. Dental Implants require that the jaw has enough bone to support the implants and that the structure of the bone is strong.
In an All-on-4 solution, after the four dental implants have become part of the jawbone, they serve as a base for a bridge that will have crowns or other type of tooth replacements.
 Dental Implant Procedure:
A Dental Implant (also known as an Endosseous Implant or Fixture) is a synthetic metallic root substitute component that interfaces with the bone of the jaw or skull to support a Dental Prosthesis, which can be used to replace a single missing tooth, provide an abutment (anchor or retainer) such as a Crown, Bridge, Denture or Facial Prosthesis.
The basis for modern Dental Implants is a biologic process called osseointegration where materials, such as titanium, form an intimate bond to bone. The implant fixture is firstly placed, so that it is likely to osseointegrate, then a Dental Prosthetic is added.
The Dental Implant will be placed into your jaw while you are under either Local or General Anaesthesia. The bone will need to heal for a few months so the surface of the implant can anchor it into position. In some cases, to support an implant and restoration some bone grafting or soft tissue grafting may be required to create a proficient foundation.
Throughout the next stage, the Dentist will implant a prosthetic attachment. During this process, the Dentist will attach a prosthetic ‘post’ to the implant. An impression will be taken, and soon after, an artificial replacement tooth ‘Crown’ (See Crowns) will be created for a natural restoration.
dental-implant2In some cases, the Crown may be placed 3 – 6 months after implant placement, so a second visit to your destination may be required. A variable amount of healing time is required for osseointegration before either the Dental Prosthetic (a Tooth, Bridge or Denture) is attached to the Dental Implant, or an abutment is placed, which will hold a Dental Prosthetic. Implants are the best long term option to replace a missing tooth (or teeth) as they are fixed in position and extremely strong.
